Ion Beam Target Area
- Pete Baldo checks radiation levels at one of the beam
lines. Levels are normally well below 1 mrem/hr. The
beam line Pete is checking comes from the 600keV ion implanter.
- Other beam lines can be seen behind Pete coming through
a slit in the concrete wall enclosing the 2MV tandem accelerator.
An electomagnet inside the enclosure deflects the beam into
one of the many beam lines.
- At the right of the picture is an electomagnet
that selects the specific ion mass and energy to be sent
to either electron microscope.
