Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Program

STM Program

The STM program focuses on studies of electronic properties in novel materials using tunneling spectroscopy at variable temperatures and magnetic fields. The program started 10 years ago with first measurements of scanning tunneling spectroscopy in high-temperature superconductors YBaCuO and BiSrCaCuO. Today, we conduct complex investigations of electronic states in novel two-band superconductor MgB2, we perform imaging of vortex dynamics in superconductors with artificially engineered pinning centers, as well as look into electronic properties of the most promising candidate materials for molecular electronics.
