Interfacial Materials

The research in the Interfacial Materials Group is focused on the novel and unanticipated behavior that simple and complex oxides can exhibit when combined into nanoscale structures. Our work is aimed at elucidating the chemical, microstructural, and interfacial contributions to the emergent behavior of ferroic oxide nanostructures along the following three themes: (1) design and verification of ferroic nanostructures, (2) how we can modify behavior that arises from confinement and interfacial effects, and (3) how we can understand and control the domain behavior in ferroic nanostructures.
