Surface Chemistry


The Surface Chemistry Group studies the fundamental interactions of matter and energy with varied surfaces. The Group utilizes unique deposition techniques (ion-beam deposition, atomic layer deposition) and directed energy sources (ion, laser, electron beam) in concert with theory to precisely modify, probe, and understand surfaces, interfaces, and bulk materials. These methods allow for basic science contributions to a range of applied fields including solar energy conversion, nuclear materials, solar wind, stardust, superconductors, thin films and trace analysis.
