The Synchrotron Radiation Studies group is advancing the frontier of materials science through creative use of the Nation's x-ray facilities, including the premier hard x-ray synchrotron, the Advanced Photon Source (APS), the first hard x-ray free-electron laser, the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS), and the Synchrotron Radiation Center. Our approach is to develop novel x-ray experimental techniques that take advantage of the unique capabilities of these x-ray sources, and to apply those techniques to obtain fundamental understanding of key topics essential for the efficient, scientific development of new materials.
